T1 - Childhood - Chapter 1
It seems like Gableplunk had an isolated childhood. The story implies that he felt estranged from his family. It's no wonder that he grew up to be alienated. The struggles that he experienced were about this. His indecision as to whether or not to join the band were about this. Some of his symbols in his dreams were about this. His desires to overcome opposition were about this. Weren't they?

Yes, I certainly agree that an isolated childhood will cause social phobias and alienation. We first learn how to socialize through our family interactions. I think when that is missing - life must be very frightful, not knowing if we are reacting to social situations properly.

What’s childhood? A time in your life when your nervous system is immature and your psyche is easily bruised. We all slip through those years with little idea about what’s going on around us because we have little ability to think, consider and
compare. No experience, no comparisons possible. Our early experiences become information in our internal data base. We continue to add data as we develop our thinking/comparing capabilities and it’s from our database that we continue to download megabytes for future comparisons with new (digitized?) experiences. Of course our brains and the rest of our nervous system are our information superhighways. Ooo, ooo, computer metaphors.
